This time two years ago I was frantically editing poems together for the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award. It was when the Beast from the East shut down the country and there was nothing in our cupboards but a single tin of Heinz chicken soup and half a tube of plain Pringles 😂 Back then we lived beside a very busy main road, and I remember feeling like the silence the snow brought had been a gift from the universe, allowing me a rare quiet for editing.

For all the young poets putting their collections together this week — sending all luck and good vibes possible to you! And really, to form a collection together in the first place is something remarkable. Take stock of all that hard work and cherish it, you absolute legend.

DEADLINE NEXT WEEK!! Get your work selected by @co DEADLINE NEXT WEEK!! Get your work selected by @colinjherd and published by @spec_books!! We are calling for responses to #edwinmorgan’s scrapbooks (which can be visited at @uofglasgowasc). These scrapbooks were made throughout Morgan’s life and provide a window to look in to the life and times of Edwin Morgan. The scrapbooks were a place where Morgan collected source material, pondered on local and global issues, as well as a space where he could reflect on his own sexuality during a time where it was a criminal offence to be gay. We want contemporary authors to reflect on the scrapbooks in their own way - and are thrilled to partner with @spec_books on this #edwinmorgan100 celebration.
