Supported by a Second Life Award and developed with research time in the Edwin Morgan Archive at the Scottish Poetry Library, in spring 2023 Hannah Lavery and Marjorie Lotfi entered into a conversation through a series of poem-letters in order to explore the experience of living as ‘mixed-race’ women in Scotland. Taking inspiration from Morgan, who often wrote openly and candidly about the experiences many others avoided, Hannah and Marjorie’s project tackles some of the racialised experiences with candour and honesty.
Join us at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on Wednesday 16 August for Hannah and Marjorie’s performance ‘Being and Otherness’, the culmination of their collaborative project, at which they’ll be launching their accompanying pamphlet published by Tapsalteerie. Book your tickets here!
