In response to the success of The Second Life grants scheme that was conceived to celebrate Edwin Morgan’s Centenary (2020–2021), we have established a permanent funding stream to support projects that connect with Edwin Morgan’s life and work and that enrich Scottish cultural life. The Trust will partner with organisations, collectives and groups to support the art of poetry and build relationships between poetry and other art forms. Rather than developing our own programmes, we would like to see how we could  support the important existing work that is being done in Scotland and beyond to amplify and encourage under-represented* voices.

In May 2022 we will have an open call for proposals from potential partners for projects occurring in 2023 and beyond. You can read more about the callout here.

In 2022 The Second Life Awards will be supporting: Disability Art Online’s Associate Programme; two bursaries for writers over 30 from under-represented communities to attend workshops at Moniack Mhor; the Clydebuilt 15 mentoring programme; StAnza’s Young Makar and Poet in Residence programmes; a translation exchange with Literature Across Frontiers; and a scholarship for the SUISS Scottish Literature course.
