In 2023, the Edwin Morgan Trust supported the event ‘Translation Sensation’, at which poets Esa Aldegheri, Annie Rutherford, Peter Mackay and Nasim Rebecca Asl attempted a live translation of Edwin Morgan’s poem ‘At Eighty’, illustrating the intricacies and complexities of translation and how languages behave differently.

Working across Arabic, German, Gaelic and Persian, the panel discussed the decisions they made in their respective languages and opened it to the audience to contribute alternative translations or put additional languages into the mix.
