The Alasdair Gray Archive and The Edwin Morgan Trust are delighted to announce the appointment of their new researcher Domenico di Rosa, who will map and examine the cross-overs and connections in the lives, work and practices of Gray and Morgan. Domenico is a PhD student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in Scottish Literature at the University of Glasgow. His main research explores both characterisations and literary forms around queer love, kinship, and selfhood by queer individuals in 20th- and 21st-century Scottish Literature.

On undertaking the commission, Domenico said:
I’m delighted to contribute to a collaborative project with AGA and EMT to trace the interpersonal and artistic connections between Alasdair Gray and Edwin Morgan. I’m looking forward to exploring how they experienced and wrote about unconventional and queer love stories, and hope to record their enduring impression on Scottish society and the arts.
Dr Pip Osmond-Williams from The Edwin Morgan Trust said of the appointment:
The AGA X EMT research commission presents an exciting opportunity to further our understanding of the ways in which Gray and Morgan supported and shaped each others’ lives and work. We’re really pleased to welcome on board Domenico di Rosa, whose expertise and enthusiasm will be a huge asset to this important project.
Sorcha Dallas, Custodian of The Alasdair Gray Archive, said:
We are delighted to be working with Domenico di Rosa on creating a substantial body of research on Gray and Morgan that will strengthen the knowledge exchange across AGA, EMT and our wider networks. He is a highly skilled researcher whose final portfolio will be essential for informing a future Creative Commission in 2025 and for also creating a long-lasting legacy for both artists’ archives.
