The Scottish Poetry Library is the worlds largest resource for Scottish poetry and is home to the Edwin Morgan Archive, collected by Hamish Whyte – Morgans friend, biographer and publisher.

The Scottish Poetry Library will be celebrating #edwinmorgan100 through the creation of a teachers’ CLPD workshops focusing on Morgan’s poetry, providing new online learning resources, supported by their new Teaching Fellows programme, and mounting an exhibition in the library featuring works from our Edwin Morgan archive

Director Asif Khan said “Edwin Morgan’s Centenary is an important marker in Scotland’s cultural calendar in 2020 because, as the first national poet (makar) of modern times, Morgan had helped to propel the art form into civic life, including penning “Open the Doors!” for the official opening for the Scottish Parliament in 2004. Morgan has for several decades now been a mainstay in Scotland’s school curriculum and, as a result, is one of the most recognised and loved writers across the generations.”
