12 years after his death, Edwin Morgan’s influence continues to challenge and inspire readers and artists of all kinds. We are partnering with Edinburgh International Book Festival to announce our EMPA 2022 winner(s) and provide an opportunity to showcase some of the new work that has been realised from EdwinMorgan100 Artist Commissions and from this year’s The Second Life Awards.

The evening will begin with performances from Sekai Machache and Esther Swift, who were commissioned in 2020/21 to produce work in response to Edwin Morgan for our Edwin Morgan Centenary celebrations.
The winners of this year’s Edwin Morgan Poetry Award will be announced and will read some of their poems. We have released the exciting shortlist here and have published a sample of shortlisted poets work here.
We will then hear from two poets who have been supported with our 2022 The Second Life Awards, Ellen Renton – who has been supported through Disability Arts Online Associate Artist Programme, and Niall O’Gallagher – who is involved with the Literature Across Frontiers Czech and Scottish poetry exchange.
