Edwin Morgan wrote across forms, themes, and languages and supported other writers to find their voices; it is with this spirit that St Mungo’s Mirrorball designed the Clydebuilt Verse Apprenticeship Scheme. Founded in 2007, the scheme provides intensive support for poets at an early stage of their writing careers, encouraging a greater dialogue between them and more experienced practitioners. Through a series of group and one-to-one sessions taking place over twelve months, the selected participants are encouraged to develop not only their own writing style but their ability to critique others, as well as a portfolio of poems to showcase at the end of the programme.

Elissa Hunter-Dorans is a writer from Inverness, working in Gaelic and English. She was the Scottish Poetry Library’s first Young Makar for Gaelic poetry and has performed at various literary festivals. Her writing appears in Taigael: Stories from Taiwanese and Gaelic, and she studies History of Art at Edinburgh University.
Jamie Livingstone is a writer from Taynuilt near Cruachan. He lives in Glasgow now.
Ciara Maguire is a writer living in Glasgow. Her work has been published by Gutter, SPAM Zine, Extra Teeth, bath magg, 404 Ink and others. Her debut pamphlet ‘Impossible Heat’ was published with Little Betty Press in 2024 and longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize.
Eve McIntosh is a poet from Dundee, based in Glasgow, whose work examines how friendship and identity co-exist with nature. They are one of Scottish Poetry Library’s “Young Makars of 2024”, and Eve’s debut poetry pamphlet ‘Digital Prophet’ was published by Guillemot Press in April 2026.
